DESIGNER'S COMMENTS
The Kanter 58' pilothouse sloop is a true world cruiser, designed for sailing performance combined with luxurious accommodations. The design criteria was to meet the owner's requirements, and the aluminum hull was designed and constructed to Lloyd's of London specifications. The motion comfort ratio is high and falls right between an Alden 58' and a Little Harbor 58' design. The limit of positive stability is 130 degrees, exceeding the offshore racing requirements by 10 degrees.
The arrangement, with its practical offshore layout, has comfort built in for extended cruising. Two forward guest staterooms share a large head with a separate stall shower. The family-style atmosphere living room has a chart table with a command center nearby, and the ample walk through galley leads to the owner's private aft quarters. The pilot- house provides a large, bright lounging area with 360 degree visibility and an interior steering station. It also expands over a seating portion of the cockpit for protection from all weather conditions. Additional outstanding features of this yacht include the engineering and placement of the machinery, and their easy access for service and maintenance. The yacht is powered by 180 hp Caterpillar engine and has fuel capacity of 600 gallons.
This attention to engineering details, not often seen on sailing vessels of this size, was met by perfect execution by the builder. Back to Sail
